THE COMMITTEES OF COUNCIL

Ad-Hoc Committee: The purpose of the Ad-Hoc committee shall be to monitor all issues presented to it that are not covered under other committees.

Economic Development Committee: The purpose of the Economic Development committee is to work with the Village to promote economic development, growth, and monitor issues related to Economic Development.

Finance / Insurance Committee: The purpose of the Finance committee shall be to monitor all issues pertaining to Village finances and all insurance issues in the Village.

Dave Adams grew up in the greater Toledo area. Dave attended Rogers High School and then went on to attend Owen’s Technical College. Dave and his wife Sue are parents to daughter Bailee and son Grant.

Dave is a Project Manager for Poggemeyer Design Group. In his spare time, Dave enjoys spending time with family and friends in addition to watching his children participate, for Genoa, in many different sporting events.

Dave was elected to Council in 2000 and has served nearly 13 years for the citizens of the Village of Genoa. Dave currently is the Chairperson to the Finance/Insurance Committee and sits on the Economic Development Committee and the Income Tax Review Board.

Darryl was born in Fenton, Michigan but was raised in Northwest Ohio. Darryl attended Genoa High School. Darryl and his wife Sharon are kept busy with their children: daughter Julie Rose and son Richard Bittner. Darryl is also the proud step-father to Lisa Spaulding, Michelle Smith, and Ronald Potridge.

Darryl was elected to Genoa Council in 1997. Darryl currently is the chairperson of the Safety Committee and is the Council Representative to Board of Trustees, Allen-Clay Joint Fire District. Darryl also serves on the Streets & Sidewalks Committee; the Personnel Committee; and as an alternate council person of the Ottawa County Regional Planning Committee. In 2007, Darryl was elected to President of Council.

Darryl works on this Council to help the Village of Genoa, and to protect the interests of the citizens of the Village. To ensure this, Darryl has been on every committee, save one, in the 16 years since he was elected to Council. He would like to thank the citizens of Genoa for electing him, and trusting him with this position.

Dave Brown is a life-long resident of Genoa. Dave and his wife, Sue, and their three children Andrew (Amanda), Christin (Brad), and Cory (Jamie) are all Genoa High School graduates.

Dave is an Operations Supervisor for BP Oil Toledo Refinery located in Oregon. He has been employed with BP for 29 years. Dave was elected to Genoa Council in 2009 and is looking forward to serving the residents of Genoa. Dave currently sits on the Streets & Sidewalks, Safety, and Personnel Committees. Dave is also the Alternate Council Representative on the Board of Trustees for the Allen-Clay Fire District.

Dave is a Navy Veteran and member of the Genoa American Legion Post 324. He was a long time coach and officer in the Genoa Little League Association. Dave was also an Ohio High School Athletic Association Football Official and Baseball Umpire. In his spare time, Dave enjoys spending time with his family and watching sporting events.

Ken Harsanje was born in Oregon, Ohio and has lived in Genoa his entire life. Ken, his wife and two sons are all graduates of Genoa High School.

Ken and his wife, Kim Marie, are the parents of sons KenJr. (Jill) and Tony (Keely). They are also proud grandparents of Ty, Kallie, Bayah and Nolan.

Ken is a retiree of First Energy/ Davis-Besse where he still works part-time as a consultant.

Ken was appointed to Genoa Council in September 2012 by the current council. Ken is looking forward to serving the residents of Genoa. Ken currently sits on the Utilities (as chairman), Finance and Ad Hoc committees. Ken is also on the Income Tax Review Board and is the Genoa Council liaison for the tree commission.

Ken is a retired honorary member of the Allen-Clay-Genoa fire department. Ken was a long time officer and coach of the Genoa Little League Association and Genoa High Summer Baseball. Ken is a charter member of Genoa High Football Field Paint Team. Ken enjoys spending time with his family and at his summer home on Lake Erie. He is an avid Genoa High and Ohio State sports fan. Ken is a member of Genoa St. John’s U.C.L.

John grew up in Genoa, graduated from Genoa High School, and has been a lifelong member of St. John’s United Church of Christ, where he served on the ElderLife Board of Trustees and has sung in the choir for many years. In 1999 he retired from GTE after 30 years as a telephone install/repairman. John now works for Maxcom as the “telephone man” at Davis-Besse Nuclear Power Station. He served on the Clay-Genoa Volunteer Fire Department for years and after 35 years, retired as Assistant Chief from the Allen-Clay Joint Fire District Station 3.

John has been married to Teresa (Harder) since 1977 and has two daughters, Sara Bourgeouis and Mary Lewis, and two grandsons, John Lewis Therrien and Max Bourgeouis. He enjoys attending Comet sporting events and watching John Wayne and James Bond movies. Over the years John has sung at many friends’ and relatives’ weddings (many of whom are still married!)

John was elected to Council in 2010 and has enjoyed serving the Genoa community that has always been an important part of his life.

Raymond St. Marie grew up in Rossford, Ohio. Ray attended Rossford High School, and then went on to attend University of Toledo to earn a Bachelors degree in Business Management. Ray has three children: Raymond Zachary, Isaac, and Lola who all have attended or are attending Genoa Schools.

Raymond is a local business owner and an active member of the Downtown Merchants. In his spare time, Ray enjoys spending time with his family and friends in addition to attending sporting events.

Ray was elected to Council in 2009. Ray is currently serving on the Safety, Personnel, and Ad Hoc Committees. Ray is the Village representative for the Ottawa County Regional Planning Commission and sits on the Planning Commission for the Village of Genoa.

The Genoa Council consists of a legislative body of six members. Four of the members are up for election in a single year. The remaining two members are up for election two years later. Once elected, each member serves a four-year term.
